Across the continent
#1
I have just returned from a 10,500km return trip across pretty much the full width of Australia from Tuross Head on the South Coast of NSW to Perth. I was taking my canoe across to Perth to compete in the National Canoe Marathon Championships.
A while back, I built a rack to carry my canoe or kayak so that I didn't need to remove it from the rack when I set up the camper. The rack has now covered well over 20,000km and has survived well apart from the moment when I went searching for Weebubbie Cave near Eucla and misjudged the clearance to an overhanging branch. The damage was easily repaired and the joints were later reinforced with metal brackets.

At night the rack swung down beside the camper.
