#960 3 States in our first 3 trips - DnP#960 - 12-01-2017 Hi All, we have been enjoying reading all the content and thought we would share our first few trips in Camper 960. Our first shake down was 5 days with the intent to climb into the Snowy Mountains after spending sometime in Mallacoota and Merimbula etc. Leaving the coast and heading inland we ticked off a number of sights through Berridale, Jyndabyne, and Dalgety where we crossed paths with a strong supporter of Trayon in Allan Whiting from Outback Travel Australia with his recognisable Traytek Landcruiser. Heading north and still rising we called into Lake Eucumbene and then on to traverse the Snowy Mountain Highway to Tumut before heading home to Melbourne. The second trip was a quick weekend to Rocklands Reservoir in Western Victoria where the water level is high after a wet winter down south. Plenty of open space to camp and while there were plenty of others around, being in the trayon you can find the quieter less populated spots that others (towing) can't get into. With the experience of the first shake down in NSW you might notice in the pics the headboard has been removed and the camper now sits about 100 mm further forward. Also chasing weight loss the rear bumper left from when the vehicle was carrying a tub, and associated bumper irons have all been removed as well. Finally and the third state was Christmas and New Years break in rural South Australia combining family Christmas traditions and a few trips out for some exploring and R&R. Pictured below was a night at Cockatoo Lake near Padthaway SA, and then some amazing sunsets over several nights on the beach south of Kingston with friends. The weather at Kingston was warm but a bit of a roller coaster from dead calm to howling horizontal sand but the Trayon 960 took it all in its stride. Looking forward to plenty more adventures ahead. And where does your dog sleep? We did a trip to Yackandandah last year and took our dogs. They slept in the annex but sadly we are now down to 1 dog RE: #960 3 States in our first 3 trips - DnP#960 - 13-01-2017 Hello Denise and Bryan, sorry to hear you lost one. Bonny is a 2 year old Border Collie / Poodle and she comes on all our trips. She sleeps on her lambswool mat down at our feet and in the little gap where you climb up into the bed. That little upholstered cushion that came with the Trayon that makes getting into and out of bed easier means we don't lose our feet space in bed and she's awake anyway if we need to get up in the middle of the night. I've read with interest your trips too, the Wonnnangatta Valley is a very special place that not many people get to see. All the best David |
