Trayon Campers Reviews Analysed

Revealed: Results of Analysing 53 Trayon Owners Reviews

Trayon Campers, an Australian brand well-known for its slide-on 4WD campers, undergoes a comprehensive analysis of 53 reviews from Google to share insights and feedback from real customers. You can check out all our reviews on our testimonials page or on Google / Facebook.

The information presented in this blog was compiled first as an analysis of our own products and services to help us make business decisions, however, we realised that this information could also help prospective customers understand the experiences of existing Trayon Camper owners.

Rather than let us do all the “Marketing” and talking, how about hearing directly from our customers?

In this article, we have analysed 2 different areas based on the same review, with a 3rd thrown in just for fun. They are:

  1. Experiment 1: Feature / Benefits mentioned in the reviews.
  2. Experiment 2: Customer Service breakdown / mentioned in the reviews
  3. Experiment 3: Word Cloud Creation (Just for Fun)

For these experiments, we used some advanced techniques such as natural language processing to help build a dataset of words used in the reviews, with some further keyword clustering to identify themes/categories.

We should note that the Google reviews overwhelmingly focused on Customer service, that’s why we have a dedicated experiment exploring the different types of customer service.

Experiment 1: Feature/Benefit Mention Analysis for Trayon Campers

Method

In the first experiment, we aimed to find out the most frequently mentioned features and benefits of the Trayon Campers by analyzing the text of the reviews using natural language processing. Keyword clustering and counts were employed to group similar words into categories.

The results were represented as a pie chart, showing the percentage of reviews that contained a mention of one of those categories.

Here is a bit of a breakdown of the top 3 categories with some example reviews within that category.

  1. Easy Setup (20.4%)

    Trayon Campers are designed for quick and hassle-free setup, allowing you to effortlessly transition from on-the-go to a fully-functional camping site in just a few minutes (3 – 5 depending on experience). Our goal is to make camping as simple and safe as possible while having all the comforts of home.

    Rob Irvine said:
    “We had some initial issues aligning the camper on the back of the ute but with some very useful tips and guidance from the Trayon team have been able to make this an easy and quick operation.”
  2. Australian Made (16.67%)

    Proudly manufactured in Australia and family owned, Trayon Campers provide local craftsmanship and expertise, ensuring a high-quality product tailored to the Australian environment. So when you buy from us, you are quite literally supporting Aussie families and Aussie jobs.

    Sarah Murray said:
    “I would like to say we were treated with respect  and their service has not changed. The build quality of Trayon campers is excellent and we are so impressed. And the best part – Australian Made!”
  1. Off-road Capability (15%)

    Built for the rugged Australian terrain, Trayon Campers offer exceptional off-road performance, enabling you to confidently explore remote and challenging destinations. Go further than you can in a trailer.

    Alex Freeman said:
    “Have had our Trayon just under two years and have done two major trips with it… Both trips were rough with long distances of heavy corrugations. The Trayon handled the conditions extremely well.”

These findings suggest that our customers overwhelmingly preferred a convenient, quick setup process, high-quality Australian-made camper, and a highly capable off-road camper to enhance the overall camping experience.

Although important, comfort, lightweight, future preparedness and not wanting to tow were less commonly mentioned.

Experiment 2: Customer Service Mentions

Method

To evaluate customer service experiences, we once again analysed the text of the 53 reviews. This time, we focused on keyword clustering and counts related to various aspects of customer service.

1. Analysing the text of reviews for service-related mentions

  • We went through the reviews and identified phrases specific to customer service.
  • We created clusters around the phrases found.

2. Keyword clustering and counts

  • For each identified customer service phrase, we grouped similar phrases together.
  • We then counted the number of mentions in each cluster to get a percentage representation of each category.

Results and Findings

The bubble chart below shows the primary categories and their relative proportion of mentions within the reviews:

  • The chart illustrates the prominence of different customer service aspects in the reviews.
  • Larger bubbles represent categories with higher frequencies; smaller bubbles indicate fewer mentions.

To give you some examples of reviews that fall under the top three service categories here are the category definitions and reviews so you can understand the sentiment.

1. After Sales Service (29.6%)

This category refers to the service and support customers receive after purchasing their Trayon Camper. Examples include providing helpful tips, addressing concerns and assisting with any modifications or upgrades.

Rob Irvine said:
We cannot praise the Trayon staff enough for all their useful and patient advice over emails, phone calls, and face-to-face chats regarding the many different aspects of enjoying our Trayon camper experience.

2. General Support (18.5%)

General Support pertains to overall assistance and guidance provided by the Trayon team across all aspects of the camper experience, from pre-sale service, product knowledge, technical support to after-sales service.

Adrian van den Avoort Said:
“Had a Trayon for 2 years now and are really happy with the purchase decision. Picked it up from the factory and had a really good handover instruction by Vernon with lots of hints and tips. We have been on a number of long trips across Australia for months at a time in different weather and it just works and is comfortable. I cannot fault the support you get from the factory even when you live in WA right across the country.”

3. Handover (14.8%)

The Handover category refers to the process of transferring the Trayon Camper to the customer, including demonstrations and guidance on using the camper’s various features and functionality.

Andrew:
“Picked up our new Trayon 1980 Diesel Deluxe and Mazda BT 50 Freestyle [TURN-KEY] about 2 weeks ago. A turn-key deal with Vernon & the crew, it all went so smoothly. Every detail explained & demonstrated clearly so we knew what we were getting & how to operate it. We are still so excited. First camp at Goomburra where the heater got a good workout. The camper exceeded our expectations. Can’t wait for the next camp in a couple of weeks.”

Independent of these reviews, our commitment is to provide exceptional service across all the service categories.

However, clearly, by this analysis, our strong focus on after-sales service, general support, and handover has made the biggest impact to provide a seamless and enjoyable Trayon Camper experience for them.

Experiment 3: Word Cloud Creation (Just for Fun)

Method

Just for fun, we wanted to create a visually appealing representation of the most frequently mentioned words in the reviews, so we decided to generate a word cloud. 

This representation would help to easily identify and understand the key themes highlighted by our customers. Here is some of the experimental design.

  1. Excluding certain words from analysis
    1. We first excluded the following words “trayon”, “camper”, “campers”, “camping”, “vernon”, “us”, “go”, “even”, “taken”, “review”, “year”, “many” from our analysis, as they were either assumed or filler words.
    2. By eliminating these words, we ensured that the word cloud would only consist of meaningful terms related to our customers’ experiences.
  1. Generating a word cloud from reviews
    1. After excluding the certain words, we then created a word cloud using the remaining text from the 53 reviews.
    2. The word cloud displays the most frequently mentioned words in larger font sizes, while less frequent words appear smaller.

The word cloud we created is like a party thrown by our happy customers! In this vibrant and lively visual, we spotted some standout words and phrases that showed our customers’ enthusiasm for their Trayon Campers. Here’s a glimpse of the fun we discovered within the word cloud and our comedic internal interpretation:

  • “Great” – Our customers think we’re awesome – high five!
  • “Team” – Trayon’s squad is hitting home runs with support and knowledge.
  • “Best” – We’re on top of the slide-on camper world!
  • “Road” – Trayon and our customers are conquering all kinds of paths together.
  • “Australia” – Cheers, mates! PROUDLY Australian-made and loved.
  • “Service” – Our customer service is a slam dunk.
  • “Love” – Loving everything about our campers and the feeling is mutual!
  • “Trip” – A Trayon Camper is the ultimate travel buddy.
  • “Time” – Spending quality time together, exploring and making memories.
  • “Good” – Not just good, we’re nailing it!

We like to think that our colourful and chaotic word cloud captures the essence of our customers’ joy-filled experiences with Trayon Campers.

Conclusion

By analysing the reviews and presenting our findings through a pie chart, a bubble chart, and a word cloud; we were able to provide valuable insights into the benefits of owning a Trayon Camper as well as the customer service and support we offer. 

Hopefully, this analysis allows you to better understand existing customers’ experiences and the reasons behind their satisfaction with Trayon Campers.

We were glad to find from this analysis that it’s evident that our campers combine quality craftsmanship with the convenience of a lightweight, off-road-ready design, comfort and the ability to access remote locations. That’s what we set out to do and we are glad our customers think that as well.

Ultimately, these experiments have painted a clear picture of the Trayon Camper experience for us to know what to continue to focus on.
